Historic Archival Research

Through the course of performing each cultural resource survey, P2P environmental conducts historic background research. Archival research can be used to determine whether any NRHP eligible archaeological sites or historic structures are located within a given area, or used to determine whether environmental variables will affect archaeological site potential. Archival research also is used by P2P Environmental to develop cultural studies of any given area. By doing this, we can better understand how something specific such as an archaeological site or historic structure fits into a broader narrative of history. P2P Environmental performs background research at a number of different places including: libraries, courthouses, real estate records, local historical societies, SHPOs, and state archaeological site files.
